Lettuce Recipe: Kapherr's Salad Dressing PDF Print E-mail

This salad dressing recipe was developed by my grandparents. They bottled this and sold it, and it was their livelihood for many years until Kraft Foods put them under in the early 1960s. I have modified the ingredients a little but it still remains one of my favorite salad dressings and it goes great with any beautiful green salad.  Salad dressings can often make or break a salad so try this one out and see how it fares for you!

¾ cup olive oil
¼ cup canola or sunflower oil
½ cup apple cider vinegar
½ cup tomato ketchup
¼ cup sugar or 2-3 Tbsp. honey
Juice of 1 lemon
¼ to ½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. paprika
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion chopped finely
Pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients together in a quart jar with a lid with a tight-fitting seal. This also can be put into a blender and puréed until all ingredients are well blended and the dressing has a smooth consistency.
Store in refrigerator.
