Brattleboro Food Co-op Focus on: The Demo Department PDF Print E-mail

If you want to know what to do with that Gilfeather, or that teff flour, or how long to braise that beef cut, Julie Robinson is your best resource. The Brattleboro Food Co-op Culinary Demo and Promotions Coordinator has a deep-seated love of good food, and loves nothing more than sharing it with anyone who wishes to know. Julie and her Demo Team, Rebecca and Katherine, cook and serve delectable concoctions six days a week, and they can always tell you much about not only their morsel of the day, but lots of other foods as well. They’ve been working more and more with gluten-free options and will also present vegan dishes on occasion, often surprising their customers with favorable flavors and textures.

Julie also coordinates the food at some of the special events at the Co-op, such as at the second annual Holiday Wine Tasting (at the River Garden on Friday, December 14 from 5:30-8:00 pm), or at the Grand Re-opening celebration. Her organizational skills, and her good humor, ensure that these events run smoothly and deliciously. The famous Food Art Donation or Veggie Mandala that was built at the grand opening was designed and provided for by Julie and her invaluable shareholder assistants, Luz Elena and Nabi.
January will bring some re-setting, and re-invigorating, as it tends to do, and Julie will be jumping back on the BFC Cookbook horse to continue perfecting the final list of recipes that we will ultimately feature on the website and in print in the future. Stay tuned!

Julie has also been instrumental in some of the class offerings and discussions. On December 7, from 5:30-7:30 pm, the Cooking Class will feature Dieneba Diallo cooking Delights of Mali, not to be missed! Stop by and sample the good stuff when you come through to shop—chances are, you will be delighted!
