|This Month: Focus on Food Insecurity|
In September, we will join businesses all over Vermont in supporting the work of the Vermont Food Bank. On Thursday, September 5, we will donate a portion of the proceeds from that day's sales to the Food Bank, and will urge each other to wear orange in support of the work of the Food Bank.
We will be hosting a screening of the food insecurity documentary, A Place at the Table, on Wednesday evening, September 11, from 6:30-8:30pm. Representatives from the Empty Bowls Dinner will be on hand to sell tickets to the fundraising event benefiting the Drop In Center in October. Admission to the movie is free, though donations will be accepted for the Drop-In Center as well.
Our first Pennywise Pantry events will be held in the store on Sunday, the 15, and Wednesday, the 18. This series, hosted by Julie Robinson, will begin to demystify the many ways to use high value foods for healthy, nutritious, and cost-conscious eating. See events calendar for details!
The Co-op will be co-hosting a hike to participate in Hunger Free VT's Hike for Hunger, on Saturday, September 28. The hike will be from the Brattleboro Food Co-op to the top of Wantastiquet and back. Hikers will meet at the Co-op at 9:30am, make their own trail mix, and head off across the river and up the mountain!
