BFC Holiday Recipes: Chocolate Glaze PDF Print E-mail

This can be used on any cake, baked good, or for dipping fruit!

2 oz. dark chocolate, 70 percent or more cocoa content
1/2 to 1 Tbsp. butter or vegetable spread
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup hot water
1/3 Tbsp. maple syrup or honey to taste (totally optional)
2 tsp. kudzu thickener (found in Asian food section) (Arrowroot powder about 1-2 Tbsp. can be substituted for kudzu root).

Melt chocolate and butter or vegetable spread over very low heat. Remove from heat and add hot water and sweetener as desired based on your taste. Dissolve kudzu in 1 Tbsp. cold water or if using arrowroot dissolve in 1-2 Tbsp. water. Make a smooth paste. Then add to melted chocolate and bring to a simmer, stirring briskly. Simmer for 1 to 2 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Allow to cool or immediately spread with a knife on the warm cake. Garnish with berries if desired!
