We are beginning the celebrations! PDF Print E-mail

This is it, folks, the 40th year of existence of our Co-op. Thanks to some visionary and energetic people, out of a dirt-floored basement came the beautiful community store we all enjoy today, with countless hours from member-shareholders who worked, shopped, served, and believed. Also, countless hours from staff, some of whom arrived in the Flat Street store iteration, others in the former Brookside Plaza store, some very recently, and, in the case of a few staff, all the way back to those dirt basement days. And our cooperative also has benefited from the support and encouragement of all of our Co-op partners/friends from all over the country, who still assist us in myriad ways today. We are honoring some of our founding members this month with a small celebration and collaborative recollection, and will crescendo to a community-wide party in late June, which will also mark our longtime general manager Alex Gyori’s retirement. In short, prepare to party! As part of our celebration, we will be asking you to participate in telling us one of your favorite anecdotes about the Co-op in your life; look out for those opportunities for you to tell us your story and have us take your picture. We will be kicking this off with our founders this month, and on through the summer months. So, thank you for your support of our collective project, which now anchors our downtown business district. Be thinking about the ways that the Co-op has enriched your life and brightened your days. We’ll be asking soon! –Sabine
